Let It Snow!

Well it's a good thing I'm not a meteorologist. When we woke up this morning we had a nice fresh pile of snow in our yard.  Eli was so excited he immediately put on his boots and ran right outside in his PJs while I was taking care of Simon.  After chasing him down in my robe, and wishing that the deadbolt on our door was a couple inches higher we starting to get ready for a snow day.  We got so lucky that Bruce happened to have the day off and Eli wanted desperately to build an "Olaf snowman" with him.  The snow here is always amazing for packing because it is so wet and heavy. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of a snowman because before it was even halfway built Eli jumped on it and "killed" it. In the end we just had another snowball fight and it was so much fun.  Bruce even got the nice camera out to take pictures!

I guess that all that running around in the snow made Eli pretty tired because he rarely takes any naps but after we came inside and he settled down to watch a movie he lasted about 5 minutes.  I know that I will regret letting him sleep later today but he just looked too funny with that iPad resting on his face.

I also have to take a quick second to showcase the present that Bruce and I bought for Christmas this year. A couple of months ago my dear friend, Denise, had an art show here and we both loved a painting of hers.  She does some of the most amazing art and I have no idea how she finds time to do it with two boys who are almost the exact same ages as Eli and Simon. Some of her pieces were more geometric and others more organic but this was the one we picked out...

So now we are the proud owners of an original piece of art! Here's hoping Eli doesn't colour all over it!
Also, as of right now our flight to Edmonton is in approximately 2 days and 18 hours! Not that I'm counting.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

In the last couple of weeks we had something pretty exciting happen here that I don't think we will get for the rest of the winter... it snowed!  Eli could not believe his eyes when we opened the door that morning and there was just a little dusting of snow on our sidewalk.  For the rest of the day he kept asking me if it was Christmas day because he's pretty sure Santa cannot come without snow.  He is in for a big surprise when we get to Edmonton for Christmas.  Unfortunately, there was not enough snow to make a snowman like he wanted but we did get a couple of snowballs out of it to have a little snowball fight and he loved it.
We also had to dig around in the garage this month to find our swing from when Eli was first born.  Eli wasn't a huge fan of it but it became pretty necessary to try something new when I put Simon in his bouncer the other day, came back two seconds later and found him like this...
A little help please?
It seems that he has outgrown it.  I cannot believe how quickly time has passed and now he is rolling over all the time and really starting to show his little personality.  He fits a little better in the swing and I think it'll do until he can sit up on his own.  Eli has had a ton of fun pushing him in it too so more often than not it entertains them both!

We have also spent the last two weeks trying to get over a pretty nasty cold.  For a few days this is pretty much what Eli looked like...

Pretty pathetic. So we have been under quarantine for a while now but I think everyone is on the mend.  Bruce was the last to get it and we are both keeping our fingers crossed that he will be back to 100% come Christmas time.

It has been so nice to see Eli and Simon develop a really nice little relationship.  Simon just thinks that Eli is hilarious and Eli has recently started to cuddle Simon all the time and loves to make him laugh.  Just today Eli got a little scratch and he had to show Simon so that he would kiss it (I guess my kisses just don't cut it anymore).  I can only hope that they continue to be the best of friends but right now I will sit back and enjoy watching their brotherly bond grow.

Sorry if the pictures are a bit blurry.  I have had to use my phone a ton lately because I am too lazy to figure out how to charge Bruce's fancy-pants camera.
